Mission & Vision

CanWIT (Canadian Women in Technology) is a community network designed to boost women's participation and advancement in the high-growth technology sector.

Our mission is to help women in technology companies advance in their careers and succeed as entrepreneurs through mentoring, networking, professional development and advocacy.

Our vision is to be Canada's premier "go to" forum that is committed to the advancement of women in technology under the CATAAlliance innovation umbrella.

The catalyst for the formation of CanWIT Forum came from a partnership forged in 2003 between CATAAlliance and SpringBoard, a U.S. based not-for-profit organization that has been successful in preparing and showcasing women-led businesses to investors.

In early 2005 and 2006, CATA conducted two Online Surveys of Women in Technology positions ( see http://www.e-penso.com/survey/rtp.do?r=1116 and http://www.e-penso.com/survey/rtp.do?r=1961  to gauge  their degree of interest in creating a national forum and to better understand their needs. There was a tremendous response to the surveys which provided valuable guidance in creating CanWIT Forum goals and programs.

CanWIT Forum is a division of CATAAlliance, the industry's largest high tech trade association, enabling us to advocate for and and assist women across all technology sectors. CanWIT members benefit from CATA's platform of services and resources and from CATA's overall mandate to advance the business of technology.
