Over the past ten years, Sandra's excitement for Information Technology has renewed every day. In her current role at the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC), a not-for-profit sector council that strives to create a strong, prepared and highly educated Canadian ICT industry and workforce, Sandra has been active in the promotion of diversity in Canada's ICT workforce, particularly in the recruitment and advancement of both women in ICT and internationally educated ICT professionals.
Prior to 2005, as an Information Systems Manager, Sandra managed ICTC's technical infrastructure and all phases of website development, and was instrumental in the creation of an IT career awareness website for secondary school students called DiscoverIT.org. Using her tech savvy and creative flair, she has designed brochures, posters and newsletters and written articles on ICT for beginners.
Sandra holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Ottawa and completed her BA Honours in Political Science at Carleton University. After university, she pursued yet another educational goal and obtained a certification in the Information Technology Professional Program, and has since completed leadership development programs at the Canadian Management Centre and Coaching for Performance at the Banff Centre. She participates on the Building Tomorrow Today Planning Committee, CIPS WIT organizing committee, the Ottawa Chapter of the CATA WIT Forum, and is the CATA WIT Forum National Board Champion for the Mentoring Pillar. Passionate about travel, Sandra has also been known to rappel down cliffs in Costa Rica or run up them in Santorini, Greece.
