Joanne Stanley

CATA Alliance

With over 25 years experience in marketing communications in the technology industry, Joanne Stanley is a senior expert in building strategic partnerships, and developing brand strategies and national and global programs to launch new products, new companies and alliances.

From 1998 to 2004, Ms. Stanley was Vice-President, Marketing and Communications for Communications and Information Technology Ontario (CITO), an Ontario center of excellence dedicated to fostering public/private partnerships in the ITC sector. In this position, Ms. Stanley developed and directed the marketing and communications programs targeted to CITO's stakeholders, including universities, government and the telecom, IT and new media sectors. Under her direction, CITO had an integrated communications strategy that encompassed research and technology transfer workshops, innovation seminars for SMEs, on-line marketing, proactive media relations and strategic partnerships with hi-tech and research organizations.

Formerly Chief Communications Counsel at Bell Canada, Ms. Stanley directed communications for Bell's broadcasting and digital new media services, broadband services, eCommerce and Internet services. She joined Bell Canada Corporate Communications in 1983 and later became Director of Public Relations for Bell Marketing and Technology.

From 1992 to 1996, Ms. Stanley was Senior Advisor and Director of Communications at Stentor Inc. where she counseled on marketing, regulatory and governmental relations issues, and directed national and international consumer and business marketing communications programs.

Ms. Stanley began her career in communications at Crawley Films.

Ms. Stanley graduated with Honours in Business Administration from the Algonquin College School of Business and from York University's Executive Management Program.
