Suhayya Abu-Hakima
Co-Founder, President/CEO, Amika Mobile

Sue is Co-Founder, President/CEO of her second start-up Amika Mobile that focuses on mobile content, specifically, delivering critical email alerts or Email-SMS alerts on any mobile phone. Her company is building product distribution partnerships in India, North America and Europe. Her first company, AmikaNow! was spun-off from NRC's R&D labs in 1998. Its compliance business was acquired by Entrust in June 2004. As VP Content Technology at Entrust, she transitioned the compliance business and interacted with major financial and government customers. Sue started her career at Nortel Labs in 1982. She holds a B.Eng. from McGill University and M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from Carleton University. She is on the Board of Directors of Ontario's Centers of Excellence. She chairs the advisory board of the Communications and IT Center. She is on the Private Sector Board of the National Centers of Excellence. She has given150 invited talks on technology, entrepreneurship, security and AI drawing on 26 years of experience. She holds 19 International patents in messaging and content analysis and has published over 100 papers. Sue has been very active in her community as a volunteer and mentor. She has helped create over 130 high tech jobs in Ottawa which according to OCRI have spun off 520 jobs. She is a mentor to countless High School, University and Graduate students. Her companies have won many awards. Amika Mobile recently won an Ottawa Business Achievement Award and she was named Canada's Leading Woman High Technology Entrepreneur by CATA in June 2007.
