Session 3: Leading Edge IT - Speaker Bios
Dale Gantous
CEO, InGenius
Dale Gantous is an executive with 30 years of management, sales, technical and marketing experience in the software and telecom sectors. She has a B.Sc. Honours Math, Minor Computer Science from McGill University 1979.
Dale began her career in Telesat Canada's Space Systems Department, where she first specialized in satellite control systems and software development – beginning her career as a proverbial rocket scientist. She worked on 5 spacecraft launch teams, where she planned and executed complex, real-time satellite in-orbit thruster-firing manoeuvres (fun stuff!). Dale then ran the in-orbit payload test system for the satellite communications transponders. She was promoted to manage the network management and control systems for Telesat’s voice, data, and video networks and corporate WAN. Dale moved into marketing as head of Product Management for Telesat's VSAT packet data network service, and became Program Manager for the development of Integrated Satellite and Terrestrial Telecommunications Services, working closely with Bell Canada .
In 1993 Dale joined InGenius Engineering Inc. as CEO, where she currently runs InGenius, a premier provider of software, R&D, and professional services to the high-tech industry and government. InGenius successfully spun off 2 sister companies under her direction in 1998: Rewind Technologies, a data backup company, and sofTV.net, an innovative software product company offering streaming video solutions to education, high-tech, and government customers. Dale led Rewind through a 1 year start-up phase, after which the company operated very profitably for 4 years. Dale then led sofTV.net for 4 years, spending much time collaborating with west-coast partners including Microsoft, Real Networks, and Yahoo Broadcast Services. SofTV.net completed the sale of its streaming software product line to xStream Software of Ottawa in 2004.
Since then, and after giving birth to twin boys in 2003, Dale has focused on growing InGenius’ two main divisions: Telephony Software Products, and IT Services to the Federal Government. In 2007, she inked a strategic OEM relationship with Mitel Networks, acquiring an international distribution channel that has seen InGenius' innovative computer-telephony software installed on phone systems in Europe, South America, China, Australia, and across North America. In 2008, she won key software engineering contracts for InGenius. In 2009, InGenius expanded its Telephony Software Products market to include Asterisk- and Polycom- based customers, and focused on growing its IT services base in the federal government of Canada; and in 2010, InGenius is poised for growth in both its divisions with a major new product launch and with growing penetration in the federal government.
Through multiple market booms, busts and back up again, Dale has led InGenius’ successful re-emergence as a premier provider of software, R&D, and IT professional services. Dale’s job, as she knows and loves it, is turning technical genius into a continuously profitable stream of customer satisfaction, job creation, and fun.
