Step 2: Reframing Your Message: When Changing Times Call for New Tactics
November 19, 2009
Presented by:
Kim Dixon [bio], VP Sales & Marketing, TalkSwitch
If you've ever felt frustrated when someone hasn't "gotten" your message, you're not alone. The internal debate, was it me? Did they not hear me? Do they just not get it? has probably carried on long after a conversation has ended for most of us. So instead of wondering 'how did it go', this session will prepare you with some new tactics for understanding who your audience is before you deliver your message. Kim Dixon has had years of experience jumping into new markets with new messages. Whether you're a techie talking to a newbie, a student talking to a CEO or a peer influencing a decision, you just need a few basic tricks to understand your audience first, and then know how you can re-frame your message for them accordingly.
Preparation:
If you're ever started a new job, tackled a new project with a new group, or generally just interacted with your co-workers, you've had to understand who you are engaging with and understand how they are going to best hear your message. What's an example of an audience you need to engage with? What's the general message you need to get across?
The Takeaway:
Looking for a new job? Consulting with a new client? Welcoming in a new idea to your organization? This session will explore how best to frame your message to diverse groups to impact your effectiveness and increase your ability to influence an organization.
