Tips & Tricks for Succeeding at Challenging Conversations

We are all faced with having difficult conversations on a regular basis. Our ability to handle these conversations well is one of the most important competencies we need to be effective, transparent and to build trust and respect with our clients, colleagues and staff. In this 60 min session, participants will learn new approaches, tools and skills to prepare for and navigate their most challenging conversations. Attending the program will help participants to:
  1. Understand the nature of challenging conversations
  2. Evaluate what is at “stake” and whether to engage in a particular conversation
  3. Identify what doesn’t work and why when it comes to challenging conversations
  4. Learn to prepare and present a message that is accurate, brief, and clear
  5. Discover useful skills to navigate the conversation including inquiry, listening and acknowledgement
  6. Understand how to manage strong emotional reactions to keep conversations on track
