TORONTO, October 5, 2006 - Joanne Moretti, General Manager of CA Canada, will share insights on the crucial role of IT in advancing business goals and creating and maintaining business value to attendees of a keynote hosted by the new Toronto Chapter of CATA WIT (Women in Technology) Forum, on October 10th.
The keynote, taking place at the MaRS Centre in Toronto, is the second in a series of seminars focused on helping women succeed in the technology sector.
"Technology is still a budding industry in Canada," says Moretti. "Yet, given the strong talent, innovation and expertise available, Canadian IT companies are, and will continue to become, significant and long-term global players - helping to bring business success through the deployment of effective IT strategies and governance."
CATA WIT Forum, a division of the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance), is an organization where women in the technology industry can come together to share experiences, offer insights and grow through networking, mentoring, professional development, and advocacy.
"Applied sciences represent many opportunities for young women and mature professionals; however, some endemic barriers to professional and business success remain", says Ilse Treurnicht, CEO of MaRS and Chair of the Toronto chapter of CATA WIT Forum. "The success and career satisfaction enjoyed by many women in the tech sector are well-kept secrets. We should celebrate these successes, and both support and inspire other women to pursue their aspirations within the technology industry."
