It's no secret that there are more men in the IT industry than women. But does this really matter when it comes to developing and managing your team?

Join host Ruth Morton from Microsoft Canada, and Dr. Wendy Cukier, the Associate Dean of the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University for this one hour webcast. They will discuss reasons you may want to consider in order to attract, manage and retain diversity on your team, including serving your customers better, overcoming the labour shortage, improving team productivity and fuelling innovation, to name just a few.

Bio's:

About Dr. Wendy Cukier
Wendy Cukier is recognized as one of Canada's leading authorities on emerging technologies and has over 20 years of experience as a consultant to industry and government. A professor of Information Technology Management, she has presented and published over 200 papers and is the coauthor of Innovation Nation: From Java to Jurassic Park (2002). The founder of the Diversity Institute she has helps organizations design and implement diversity strategies. She is the holder of several large research grants and was the lead researcher on studies for the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) and the DiverseCity Project as well as a consultation on Women in Technology for CATA-WIT. She holds a PhD in Management Science from York University (2002) and has honorary doctorates from Laval and Concordia University articles and is a YWCA Woman of Distinction. In 1999, she received the Governor General's Meritorious Service Cross, one of Canada's highest Civilian honours. In the year 2000 she was named one of the "100 Alumni who shaped the Century" by the University of Toronto.

About Ruth Morton
Ruth Morton is an IT Pro Advisor working at Microsoft Canada based in Toronto, Ontario. Before joining Microsoft, Ruth worked as an IT consultant focusing on Active Directory and Exchange design and implementation as well as IT strategy for corporations undergoing organizational changes. Her diverse background comes from working as an internal IT staff member for several companies and then managing the IT department for a fast growing international software company during the Internet boom. Ruth has a passion for IT and connecting with people. In her role at Microsoft, she gets to combine those passions to connect IT professionals to each other and to technical innovations from Microsoft.
